November Decluttering Challenge: Holiday & Home Decor

This month's Decluttering Challenge is Holiday & Home Decor!

As the years go by, I have begun to feel like it's more important than ever to create wonderful holiday memories with my family; One of the ways I love to do that is by displaying holiday decor. There's something so warm and magical about a space that feels cozy and beautiful to look at. I take pride in the items that I choose to keep, however, I have begun to realize it's less about the stuff and more about how we feel during the holidays. Sometimes too much stuff can be stressful and the last thing I want is for us to spend our time together feeling stressed. I love to decorate, but I'm just as happy to pack it all up and forget it exists so I can focus more on the people in front of me.

Something that I feel has helped is to create physical boundaries of where to display decor. For me, those places are the kitchen island and bay window, as well as the kitchen table and framing lights around the windows. Boundaries help form visual expectations and limit visual clutter while simplifying the decorating process. If you struggle with a shopping addiction, setting physical limits and boundaries for your space can be particularly helpful for that as well. Keep the items that are meaningful and exciting to you rather than just pulling everything out and setting it up solely because it's there.
